The Blue Bay LPGA, the fifth competition of this year's LPGA Tour, is the second competition where "2025 rookies" can participate. Three of the four previous competitions, excluding the Founders Cup, have been eligible to participate based on their performance in the last competition. The Blue Bay LPGA, where only eight of the top 25 players are participating, has 14 out of 21 rookies participating this year. Seven rookies, or half of them, passed the cut, and four even jumped into the race to win the title.
Takeda Rio of Japan, who cut three shots and led by two shots (9 under par 207) in the third round of the tournament held at Jen Lake Blue Bay Golf Course (par 72) in Hainan Province, China on the 8th, is one of the rookies this year.
Kathy Porter (Australia), a LPGA rookie, is also aiming to come from behind to win the title at the joint second place (7-under 209) along with Austin Kim (USA) and Gigi Stall (USA). Rookie Yoon In-na and Miranda Wang (China) are also holding out hope for the come-from-behind victory at the joint 11th place (4-under 212).
Although she saved two pars on the day, the game was very regrettable for Yoon. She garnered three birdies at the third, fourth, and sixth holes (par 4), and started moving to the top of the list at the beginning, but slowed down. Starting with bogeys at the eighth hole (par 5), she also garnered bogeys at the 12th and 13th holes (par 4), losing all her early pars. However, she again displayed regret by dropping birdies at the 14th (par 5), 16th (par 3), and 17th holes (par 4). As a result, bogeys at the 18th hole (par 5), which was the last, left much to be desired. Notably, Hole 18 has become the "horse" hole where bogeys have been made throughout the three days. 안전놀이터
Gino Thitikul (Thailand), who shared a round with Yoon In-na on the day, reduced four pars and moved from 15th to joint fifth (6-under 210). Lee Min-ji, who saved four pars by grabbing two eagles, Saigo Mao and Furue Ayaka (Japan) are also tied for fifth.
Among Korean players, Lee Mi-hyang, who cut three strokes, tied for ninth (5 under 211) with the highest score, while Kim A-rim, who cut five strokes, is also trying to come from behind to win the title in a tie for 11th place like Yoon In-na.
